The Truman Show - on the surface, just a film version of the Prisoner done right... But is there rather more to it than that? Simon Scott thinks so. (But then he would.)
The SAD Newsdesk was rocked by this latest shocker. What makes this worse is the apparent lack of interest in the story for the last 26 years. {Incidentally, in case it isn't obvious - this piece is not actually true...)
Issue four featured an increase in the weirdness of the titles given to articles. This was no exception, and was arguably the oddest by far. But then it was written by one of our many Simons on his very favourite subject: Lee and Herring. Aaaah!
So was the film that bad? Well at least one of the SAD team liked it, but he's usually got ideas way apart from the rest of the universe. Thankfully he hasn't been let near the subject yet, and instead we have Simon Guerrier finding it a continuation of a rather tragic tradition.
Well, Diana died and the nation mourned. Except the SAD team who upped and offed to a convention and found several other people couldn't really care less either. (Obviously this isn't true. We stood for the minute's silence like everyone. We were just glad to sit back down again.)
We still can't work out why the Gillingham Film Fair was located in Chatham. Presumably there was a good reason, but the convention itself is rather, shall we say, unimpressive. Still, that's Medway for you.
Who's Seven - Women in Leather. The whole thing was very scary but it was local and seeing as how SAD Magazine has always attempted to avoid travelling anywhere we went anyway. The weekend was diverting but has inspired the article Don't Do It! which says an awful lot.
